Women are more stressed today than ever before. Recent studies have shown that mental ill health among women is on the rise. One in five women experience anxiety or depression before the age of 24, and young women have emerged as the highest-risk group for mental ill health.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. We all go through our fair share of bad days. We wake up, and it can feel like moving is impossible – our limbs feel heavy, our heads are particularly foggy, and energy levels are at an all-time low. Going back to sleep feels like the only attractive option and all you want to do is just relax and do nothing.
In order for your mind and body to get the complete rest it deserves, you need to do a proper wind-down. Slow down, rest, find a calm space to quiet down your mind and restore. Go softly! Here are few great things you can do to soothe and recharge yourself.

16 Things You Can Do for a Mental Recharge
Try these simple, free, and quick activities that can create a powerful mind-body connection that will help whenever you’re feeling too overwhelmed with life.
- Take a warm bath or bubble bath: A warm bath is a popular way to release stress hormones. It can help to both detox and relax you.
- Talk to yourself: Our self-talk matter because it affects our emotions, mood and ultimately our actions. The things we say to ourselves and how we say them. The things we hear most often are likely to be the things that stick in our minds most strongly. This could include things people have said to us and the ways they’ve said it, the film we’ve seen, the books we’ve read, or things we have seen online.
- Enjoy your favourite food: Treat yourself a delicious gut-loving food, whether your favourite food a pizza or ice cream, go get it and make yourself feel amazing. Make it count!
- Take a technology break: we sometime forget that there’s a big, beautiful, and magical world out there waiting to be explored, filled with love, deep connections, and rich experiences! Take a moment to look around and put your social media on pause.
- Pamper yourself: Self-care is all about YOU! So cherish yourself. Do something for yourself, even if it’s a simple thing like brewing your own coffee.
- Wind down with a good book: Pick a novel where you can escape into another world. Or read about an activity that you enjoy– a hobby, travel, cooking.
- Get Creative: Try some new craft activity like colouring books, painting or photography. It’s a great way to reduce stress and anxiety by relaxing the amygdala, the fear center of your brain.
- Nourish your body: Go outside and enjoy the sun! Take a walk to the park or go sunbathing by the sea. ⠀
- Do some stretches or stairs workout: Use your stairs, either by walking up and down them.
- Create new experience: Whether it’s cooking a dish that you never made before, rock climbing or taking a road trip with your loved ones. Give it a try!
- Share your feelings with loved ones: It’s healthy to put your feelings into words. Learning how to communicate your emotions is a crucial part of “emotional intelligence”- a necessary life skill that will help you navigate life’s biggest challenges.
- Celebrate your wins: Every win counts (big or small)! Keep reminding yourself that each step you take is a step towards something great.
- Go for hikes or walks: Spending time outdoors is a great stress reliever. Your body will thank you for the fresh air and that vitamin D!
- Get plenty of sleep: Sleep is the ultimate body recharger and energy booster. Listening to some relaxing music and taking a hot bath 90 minutes before bed will help you to get more deep sleep.
- Create a fun playlist: listening to music can help with our mood, and dancing to it can help us exercise.
- Ask for help: don’t be shy about asking for help, it does not mean you’re weak, it only means you are wise.
